Go on an ArtVenture With the Kids this Weekend

If the thought of trying to drag your offspring grunting and groaning into a museum makes you want to stab yourself with a crayon, fear not. Instead try heading over to the Allentown Art Museum between 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. on Sunday to go on a family ArtVenture. During those hours you can work with a museum educator in the Crayola classroom to create original artwork. The activity, including art supplies, is free. This month’s project focuses on the photography in the exhibit Carrie Mae Weems: Strategies of Engagement. You don’t even have to worry if the kiddos balk once they get there, since admission to the museum is free on Sundays too, and if you have to leave, the free admission cost can help lessen the sting. Hey, who knows, if everyone cooperates, you might even get to walk around the museum for a minute or two.

The Allentown Art Museum is located at 31 North 5th Street in Allentown.
